Welcome to the best baby carriers for 2024!
Baby carriers, slings and wraps are an invaluable tool for parenting babies and young children. They are increasingly popular with parents and caregivers, and it’s not hard to see why!
They allow you to have your baby close to you and take care of their needs as well as keeping your hands free to get on with everything else life throws at you. Here at the Llama List we wouldn’t be without them and have been a vital piece of kit for each of our babies. Here are some more things we learned about being a new parent with a baby.
There’s a lot of choice out there. So where do you start? Let the Llama List be your guide.
Firstly, these are a few things to consider when choosing such an important part of your baby kit:
Are They Safe?
Obviously, the first thing you want to do is to make sure that your baby is safe in whatever you buy. Certifications and accreditation should be looked for to be absolutely sure that the supplier can be trusted and complies with the high safety levels you would demand.
Also, make sure you read the manufacturers’ guidance – speaking to all you dads who know better out there.
We have found that most products have an online video out there to make sure you have it fitted together properly. Safety first, as always!
Are They Comfy?
You wouldn’t want to sit in a chair for hours at a time when your legs are not settled correctly, or the position is uncomfortable or digging in – your baby is obviously the same.
Take any grumbling from the baby as a sure sign that may be they need adjusting. Also, remember that if you are not comfortable, it is likely that they aren’t either.
Having add-ons for wet or cold weather is another factor to consider to make sure you can face whatever the weather throws at you.
When Can You Use Them?
Across the range of slings and carriers there is a seemingly limitless set of options.
You just need to work out what you need it for. Keen hill walker? Maybe you want something more rugged and durable. Just want to saunter around the shops? Perhaps a sling may be more suitable.
Either way, you should have a look at the features of each carrier and see what suits you. We actually have three – an indoor sling for around the house, an outdoor carrier for walks and around town, and a ruggedised one for long dog walks in the country.
There are plenty of solutions, so choose what is right for you!
How Easy Are They To Use?
The last thing that you want as a new parent is to have something which is just too complicated or slow to put on.
In the middle of the night, when nothing else will do but a rock in the sling to settle the baby, you want something that you are comfortable using and can operate while half asleep.
This is a general rule for anything you buy to help with raising your little Llamas – they should make life easier.
An over engineered solution that you can’t use easily when it matters should be avoided.
How Much Do They Cost?
As always, you may have found the dream option and it is beyond your budget – we have been there!
So as with all things, it is about balance.
Never be scared to try the cheaper options – you may be surprised how good they are, but also make sure you get something suitable and don’t compromise on safety.
We also highly recommend the local selling sites. We have found some absolute bargains from the local area for carriers, so keep an eye out and snap them up when they become available!
